About Landon!

Landon Peters, also known as Sekwaw Matthew, is a dynamic language teacher hailing from the Cstelnec Reserve. Having been immersed in the language from a young age at a full immersion school, Sekwaw has returned to the community with a mission to preserve and promote Secwepemctsin (Shuswap).

With a passion for teaching and a deep love for language and child development, Sekwaw specializes in working with infants and toddlers. Their enthusiasm for revitalizing the language within the community is infectious, bringing a sense of excitement and dedication to the important work at hand. Sekwaw is not just a teacher, but a language warrior on a mission to ensure the survival of Secwepemctsin for generations to come.

Want to work together or support our program?

We love partnering with local and regional organizations that want to incorporate secwepemctsín into their business plans! In the past couple of years we have partnered with the TNRL Public Library, Zaaz Play and Eatery, and the Lions clubs to bring more language learning and exposure opportunities to the general public and Secwepemc People. We accept donations year round that go directly to program to offer free or low fee events for families like Secwepemctsín Bingo and Secwepemctsín board-game nights.
